7x Grammy Nominated Artist
When one of the most exciting bands to emerge from our hometown of Austin asked us to design the deluxe edition of their debut album, the answer was an emphatic "hell yes!" We drew much of our graphic inspiration from the gritty soul era of the 1960s and early 70s that their music evokes, and challenged ourselves to create a single iconic design to symbolize the chance meeting of two individual artists, each bringing their own sensibilities and power to this shared project. Just like the Black Pumas' classic sound itself, we wanted to everything we created to feel like it could have been done before computers, with timeless techniques and a steady hand or two.
